Privacy and confidentiality of health information pertains to patient’s right to the confidentiality of his or her medical information as well as rules governing when and how a provider may disclose information and to whom. 

HHS Publishes Proposed Rule Regarding Privacy and Breach of Health Information in the Health Insurance Exchanges

The Department of Health and Human Services published on June 19, 2013, a proposed rule requiring health insurance exchanges created under the Affordable Care Act to report privacy and security issues and breaches individually identifiable information to HHS within one hour of discovery.
