Medicare Data Requirements in Oregon

In addition to the requirements governing the information about any individual receiving medical assistance in the state, Oregon has specific requirements related to Medicare providers.  Medicare providers must maintain a medical record for every client and keep such records for three years after the Medicare audit has been finalized; all such records are subject to review and inspection by the Division of Medical Assistance and the Department of Health and Human Services.1

Additionally, all insurers providing coverage to Medicare beneficiaries must report health care data for use in evaluating the demands for and allocation of healthcare resources.2
