California law requires every hospital to report summary financial and utilization reports to the Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development within 45 days of the end of each quarter.  These reports include data on the average number of available beds, number of discharges, and total operating expenses,. These hospital reports are available by the Office of Statewide Health Planning to any interested person upon request for a fee.1   Hospitals are also required to report certain financial data as required by law. 2
