Public Health Data Collection and Reporting in Rhode Island

Public Health Data Collection and Reporting

Rhode Island requires the reporting of information regarding drug abuse,1 occupational disease,2 HIV,3 communicable diseases,4 strokes,5 adverse events in health care institutions,6 and flue shots.7

The Rhode Island department of health maintains health registries and databases regarding drug abuse,8 childhood immunizations,9 head and spinal cord injuries,10 birth defects,11 and venereal disease.12 Information maintained on these registries and databases is confidential.13

The department of behavioral healthcare, developmental disabilities, and hospitals14 may require data reporting by substance abuse treatment facilities.15
