Safety Goals of the Patient Safety Center – N.Y. Pub. Health Law § 2998-b

The Patient Safety Center must:

  • Develop and disseminate performance information and promote participation by health plans, providers, and professionals in “voluntary, cooperative efforts to improve patient safety in health care quality…”
  • Recommend medical safety goals and monitor providers’ ability to meet these goals.
  • Conduct audits and other activities to “assure the validity of statewide reporting systems.” 
  • Analyze provider performance.
  • Report its findings to the governor and legislature.
