Collection and Utilization of Performance Data and Hospital Report Cards – N.Y. Pub. Health Law § 2995-b

The department must collect utilization and performance data through the statewide health information system so that consumers may make informed decisions. The department should also collect and distribute any hospital data that the state task force on health care quality improvement collected for the purpose of public dissemination. The department must risk adjust collected data and must coordinate collection and dissemination efforts with the National Forum for Health Care Quality Measurement and Reporting. 

 

The department must give hospitals copies of reports generated with their data, allow hospitals to correct inaccuracies in the reports, and allow hospitals to issue a statement for distribution alongside the data.
