All laboratories within the state must submit data on healthcare associated infections (HAIs) to the Department of Health and Senior Services. Information submitted by labs is protected and must remain confidential. The infection control advisory panel created by the state must use lab HAI data as well as provider HAI data enhance the tracking of HAIs in the healthcare system, monitor trends in infection control, and use and implement CDC recommendations.
