Nursing Services
Establishes standards for nursing services in nursing facilities that address the need for 24-hour nursing coverage, establishment of performance standards, supplies and equipment, medications, and restraints. Requires the administration of medications to be entered into a resident’s health information record and for adverse reactions or medication errors to be reported to a practitioner within 30 minutes. Requires monitoring of the resident for 72 hours following an adverse reaction or medication and for this monitoring to be documented in the resident’s health information record. Permits facilities to use restraints in compliance with the Protection of Persons from Restraint Act. Requires documentation of the necessity for restraint in the resident’s health information record.
