MD Code Insurance § 31-102 - Maryland Health Benefit Exchange

The state of Maryland has established the Maryland Health Benefit Exchange as a corporation.  The purposes of the Exchange include:

  • Reducing the number of uninsured in the state;
  • Facilitate the sale and purchase of qualified health plans;
  • Assist qualified employers in enrolling their employees in the small group health insurance market and accessing small business tax credits;
  • Assist individuals in accessing public programs, cost sharing reductions and premium tax credits.
