Md. Code Ann., Ins. § 15-1903 - Medical information

A health insurer may share a patient's medical information with a clinically integrated organization in order to:

  • Promote the efficient, medically appropriate delivery of medical services to patients;
  • Coordinate care;
  • Perform the functions of a medical review committee; and
  • Offer or provide covered medical services or seek payment for or evaluate covered medical services provided by the members of the clinically integrated organization

Notes:
A "clinically integration organization" is equivalent to an "accountable care organization" as defined in MD. CODE ANN., INS. § 15-1901.
