Idaho Admin. Code r. 16.03.14.230, Restraint and Seclusion

Requires hospitals to establish a policy for the use of restraint and seclusion and specifies the elements that such policy must address (e.g., monitoring of patients during their restraint/seclusion, training staff who will use or order restraints/seclusion, documentation regarding the use of restraints/seclusion and the impacts on the patient afterward, etc.). Permits hospitals to use restraint and seclusion only when necessary to protect the safety of the patient, staff members, or other persons. Requires hospitals to discontinue use of these mechanisms as soon as possible. Requires hospitals to establish a procedure for investigating injuries that occur as a result of restraint or seclusion.
