Requires skilled nursing facilities and intermediate care facility administrators to contract with a physician to serve as the facility’s medical director. Defines the director’s role as including assisting and consulting on the development of standards for services, monitoring the quality of services, and delivering care. Requires patients/residents to receive continuing care from a licensed Idaho physician of their own choice. Establishes standards for the frequency of physician visits (e.g., at least once every 60 days for intermediate care patients, etc.). Requires physician visits to be documented in the patient/resident’s medical records. Requires physicians to give the facility the medical information necessary to care for the patient/resident (e.g., diagnosis, limitations of activity, rehab information, etc.).  Requires physicians to establish a plan of care for the patient/resident and to periodically review this plan.
