The Department of Health and Social Services is responsible for establishing and maintaining the autism surveillance system and registry. Health care providers, hospitals, and clinical laboratories must report information to the Department on patients who are diagnosed with autism. The autism surveillance system and registry is intended to be a central data bank of accurate and current information regarding all cases of autism diagnosed and treated.
