“Quality assurance activities; sharing of quality assurance information; immunity”
Arizona permits state health care providers, hospitals, and other health care entities to perform quality assurance activities. Health care entities may share their quality assurance information with state licensing/certification agencies and licensed providers—to the extent that a provider is the subject of the quality assurance activity. A hospital’s executive committee may also approve the sharing of quality assurance data to another health care entity so long as the recipient only uses the data for quality assurance activities.
Health care entities and persons that disclose or receive information or records for quality assurance purposes are immune from civil liability associated with such actions. This immunity does not apply to allegations of negligent credentialing or medical malpractice.
