Equity and Disparities

The Commissioner of Social Services must (1) add foreign language interpreters to the list of Medicaid covered services and develop billing codes for such services;1 (2) develop HUSKY Plan outreach methods that target medically underserved and minority individuals;2 and (3) address racial and ethnic disparities through a plan for providing preventive services under the HUSKY plan.3

Connecticut requires hospitals and managed care organizations to report information about their “community benefits program,” a voluntary program to address the health needs of at risk communities within the organization’s geographic service area, to the Healthcare Advocate.4
