Equity and Disparities in Washington

The state of Washington has taken a number of steps to reduce health disparities.  Primarily, the state has established a “governor’s interagency coordinating council on health disparities,” that must develop a plan to eliminate health disparities related to many common diseases and health conditions.1  In addition, hospitals must work with American-Indian tribes and health organizations to collect American-Indian specific data and develop a statistic information system.2
