Medicare Data Requirements in Tennessee

Tennessee does not regulate Medicare as closely as it does its Medicaid program.  Records relating to fraud and abuse in the Medicare program are considered confidential.  The Medicaid Fraud Control Unit, established to investigate fraud and abuse related to medical assistance programs administered by the state, is permitted to access all records, information and computerized data kept or stored by a state agency in connection with the Medicare program as authorized by federal law. 1
