Rights of Residents in Adult Care Facilities – N.Y. Soc. Serv. Law § 461-d

The rights of adult care facility residents include the following:

  • “[T]he right to independent personal decisions and knowledge…”
  • The right to communicate, privately, with any person including their physician and attorney. 
  • “[T]he right to privacy in treatment and in caring form personal needs.”
  • “[T]he right to confidentiality in the treatment of personal, social, financial and medical records…”
