The Oregon Health Authority may release information from the Physician Orders for Life-Sustaining Treatment (POLST) Registry to researchers for projects approved by an institutional review board, after the researcher’s application has been reviewed by the POLST Registry Advisory Committee.  The researcher must agree to maintain the confidentiality of the information from the Registry, provided that this does not limit the use and disclosure of such information for appropriate research purposes.  The authority may, at its discretion, de-identify any registry information before releasing it to a researcher.
