“Responsibilities of licensees under the board of mental health practice regulations”

All mental health practitioners’ offices must display a copy of the mental health bill of rights.

All mental health practitioners’ offices must provide information regarding how patient may contact the Board of Mental Health Practice regarding complaints about their treatment or billing. All mental health practitioners must inform the Board of Mental Health Practice within 30 days of any disciplinary action taken against the mental health practitioner by a state, regional, or national agency or association.

All mental health practitioners must maintain complete and accurate clinical business records for a minimum of 7 years. The clinical records must include legible date of service, type of service, outcome of service, and signature of service provider. Each mental health practitioner must provide copies of patient records to a patient or the patient’s parent or guardian if the patient is a minor within 30 days of the patient’s request. However, the mental health practitioner may not provide patients with their medical records if prohibited by court order.
