Kan. Stat. Ann. § 65-6704, Abortion upon minor

Requires minors to undergo abortion counseling prior to receiving an abortion and specifies the information this counseling must address (e.g., alternatives to abortion, agencies that can provide birth control, etc.). Requires minors to sign a form stating that they have received the required information and for the abortion counselor to make this form a part of the minor’s record and send the form to the minor’s attending physician. Requires the minor’s parent, guardian, or a person over the age of 21 to accompany the minor to counseling. Provides an exception to the counseling requirement for abortions that occur because of a medical emergency. Requires the justification for the emergency abortion to be documented in the minor’s medical record.
