“Grounds for disciplinary action; action by the department under the regulation of professions and occupations law”

Naturopathic physicians may be denied a license or face disciplinary sanctions for a variety of grounds including:

  • Failing to report to the Department of Health any health care professional who violates the law;
  • Making a false report or failing to file a report required by state or federal law;
  • Paying or receiving any commission, bonus, kickback, or rebate or engaging in any split-fee arrangement with a health care provider for patient referrals;
  • Engaging in sexual misconduct with a patient;
  • Making deceptive representations in the practice of naturopathic medicine;
  • Failing to keep written medical records for each patient;
  • Being unable to practice naturopathic medicine because of illness or substance use;
  • Gross malpractice; and
  • Performing experimental research without first obtaining written, informed consent from a patient.
