“Grounds for disciplinary action; action by the board; investigations by department under the regulation of professions and occupations law”

Podiatrists may be denied a license or face disciplinary sanctions for a variety of grounds including:

  • Failing to report to the Department of Health any health care professional who violated the law;
  • Making a report or failing to file a report required by state or federal law;
  • Making deceptive representations in the practice of podiatric medicine;
  • Failing to keep written medical records for each patient;
  • Performing professional services which have not been authorized by the patient;
  • Being unable to practice podiatric medicine because of illness or substance use;
  • Gross malpractice; and
  • Performing experimental procedures without first obtaining written, informed consent from a patient.
