“Release of medical information to certain study groups; exemption from liability under the public health law”

A health care professional, hospital, assisted living facility, hospice, nursing facility, or another health care facility may provide information and records to research groups, governmental health agencies, medical associations, and in-hospital medical staff committees to study how to reduce morbidity or mortality. Health care professionals and entities are not liable for the release of medical information to comply with this statute.
