“Statewide cancer registry under the Chronic Diseases Act”

Each health care facility and radiation therapy center must report to the Department of Health any diagnosis or treatment of cancer. The department may suspend or revoke a health care facility or radiation therapy center’s license if it fails to comply with this requirement. The information is confidential and Department of Health must use or publish the information only for research and educational purposes. Disclosed information must not contain information that may identify individual patients unless by written consent of all persons to whom the information applies. The Department of Health may contact individuals for an epidemiologic investigation provided that confidential information is not further disclosed. The department may also exchange personal data with any other governmental agency for the purpose of medical or scientific research.
