“Summary of patient’s bill of rights; distribution; penalty under the public health law”

The Department of Health must publish a summary of the Florida Patient’s Bill of Rights and Responsibilities on its website. Health care providers and facilities must inform patients on how to file complaints to state agencies upon request. Health care facilities must adopt policies to ensure that inpatients are provided the opportunity to receive information regarding their rights and how to file complaints with the appropriate state agencies at the time of admission. A health care facility that violates this statute may be fined up to $5,000 for unintentional violations and up to $25,000 for intentional violations.
