Local health departments, state facilities, licensed physicians, and hospitals (“providers”) may examine and treat a minor’s venereal disease without obtaining parental or guardian consent. Providers must comply with the § 19-215 disease reporting requirements and must report the minor’s name, address, and age to the Commissioner of Children and Families if the child younger than 12 years old. Providers must otherwise keep the fact of such venereal disease treatment confidential. Minors are responsible for the costs of venereal disease treatment and may be billed by providers.
