The HIE in Connecticut was originally established by the Connecticut Department of Public Health as the Health Information Technology Exchange of Connecticut (HITE-CT), a non-profit organization. HITE-CT was then closed down as of June 1, 2014 per state law repeal: http://www.ct.gov/hitect/site/default.asp.  Since then, Connecticut has attempted three more times at forming a state-wide HIE. The most recent effort is called CTHealthLink, which is mainly physician led, but is operating in partnership with the Connecticut State Medical Society.
