Duties of regional ombudsmen - Conn. Gen. Stat. § 17b-405

The Regional Ombudsman must:

  • Provide residents with services that protect their health and welfare.
  • Ensure that residents have access to representation and receive “timely responses” to complaints.
  • Investigate resident complaints regarding actions or decisions that affect the resident’s health and welfare.
  • Represent residents and applicants during agency proceedings.
  • Review and comment on policy developments that may affect long-term care residents.
  • “Support the development of resident and family councils.”
  • Conduct any other functions specified by the State Ombudsman.
