Powers of department to collect and maintain health data

The Department of Health may collect and maintain health data on:

  • The extent and nature of illness and disability in the state’s population;
  • Determinants of health and health hazards;
  • Health resources;
  • Utilization of health care;
  • Health care costs and financing;
  • Other health related matters.

The Department may also conduct research and evaluations on new ways of obtaining health care data.  The Department may also collect data for other governmental or non-profit entities.
