The naturopathic physicians medical board (“board”) may access reports and records maintained by hospitals, clinics, laboratories, health care institutions, and physician or physician assistant offices when investigating a naturopathic physician’s unprofessional conduct or fitness to practice. Naturopathic physicians may not assert a physician-patient privilege when questioned in regards to a board investigation or proceeding.
 
Patient records, information related to a patient’s diagnosis or treatment, information that could identify a patient or their family, and information maintained by the board may not be released to the public. The board must maintain the confidentiality of hospital records, medical staff records, medical staff review committee records, and related testimony.
