California law prohibits the following acts of discrimination on the basis of ethnicity, religion, age, sex, color, or mental/physical disability:
- Denial of the opportunity to receive benefits;
- Unequal participation or receipt of benefits;
- Different or separate benefits provided to an entire class of individuals;
- Exclusion from an advisory board;
- Denial of the opportunity to participate in preexisting, permissible separate or different programs or activities;
- Using criteria or methods that discriminate or have the effect of discrimination;
- Selecting locations of facilities that may exclude certain groups.
