Confidentiality of Clinical Records and Information
Information in patient clinical records in nursing facilities must be kept confidential. However, the record must be made available to all those in the nursing home responsible for the patient’s care. A nursing home may maintain an electronic database of patient records, but the electronic system must comply with policies to ensure confidentiality and security of the information. A paper copy must be placed in the patient’s record.
