Medical Records
Requires birthing centers to maintain patient medical records and specifies the information that birthing centers must include in these records (e.g., medication records, test results, consent form, etc.). Declares medical records as the property of birthing centers and prohibits their removal from a center unless removal is ordered by a court or directed by the center’s administration. Requires birthing centers to establish policies regarding medical record access and release of information. Requires birthing centers to maintain records for newborn infants and specifies the information these records must contain (e.g., birth weight and length, genetic screening reports, etc.). Requires private birthing centers to maintain records permanently whereas public birthing centers must comply with directives from the Wyoming State Archives.
