Kan. Stat. Ann. § 65-6111, Powers and duties of emergency medical services board
Establishes the powers and duties of the Emergency Medical Services Board (e.g., licensing, adopting regulations, creating a state plan for delivering emergency services, etc.). Authorizes the Board to access medical records that are relevant to an investigation into a licensee’s conduct, competence, or ability to perform their professional duties. Classifies patient records, information that may identify patients or their family members, risk management records, and peer review records as confidential. Makes the unauthorized disclosure of records or information obtained by the Board during an investigation a class A misdemeanor. Clarifies that the Board may access communications that are otherwise protected by doctor patient privilege.
