Health Care Coverage, Legislative Intent, and Antitrust Law – Cal. Health & Safety Code §1342.6

California allows the formation of contracts and groups of health care providers, purchasing groups and payers as a legitimate entity within the health care market.  The law states that such new products promote the public’s interest in getting quality care, and are therefore not subject to antitrust regulations banning collusion in the marketplace. However, the law points out that these entities are subject to all other existing antitrust laws.
