A business that maintains medical information for individuals or health care providers should be construed as a health care provider for the purposes of this section in maintaining the confidentiality of medical information. The business should be held to the same standard of confidentiality as a health care provider, and should be subject to the same penalties for unauthorized disclosure of medical information.
