Maine law allows the Commissioner of the Department of Human Services to request that financial institutions match their records with public assistance rolls at the expense of the Department.  The financial institutions must compile a list of accounts that are owned in whole or in part of recipients of Medicaid services.  The list must include the individuals’ names and social security numbers, type of account, account number, and account balance.
