Public Reporting of Performance Information1

 

CMS must implement a plan for making publicly available, physician performance information, including information available under the Physician Quality Reporting System by January 1, 2011.2  The Secretary must, by January 1, 2013, implement a plan to make available on the Physician Compare website, comparable information on the quality and patient experience of Medicare participating providers.3  The reported information must include measures collected under the Physician Quality Reporting System, an assessment of patient outcomes, assessment of care coordination and care transitions, an assessment of efficiency, an assessment of patient experience, and measures related to patient safety.4  The Secretary must also ensure that all information related to physician performance and patient experience protects the privacy and confidentiality of individually identifiable health information.5
