On April 3, 2014, HHS announced the release of a congressionally-mandated draft report developed by the FDA, ONC, and the FCC in consultation with health IT experts and consumer representatives. The report includes a strategy and recommendations for implementing a framework for oversight of health information technology (HIT) based on a product's function and the potential risk to patients who use it.
