Cancer registry program — Reporting requirements

The department of health must create rules for reporting instances of cancer. These rules must require the reports to identify the occupation of the patient or, in the event that the patient is retired, their primary occupation prior to retirement. The rules will also identify the types of cancer that trigger a reporting obligation, the parties obligated to report, and the procedure for reporting.

All health care facilities, independent clinical labs, physicians, and health care providers that diagnose or treat an individual with cancer who is not admitted to a hospital within a month of their diagnosis must provide a contractor with the reporting information specified by the department of health rules.
