Physician Duty to Report Communicable Diseases
Whenever a physician attends to any person sick with any dangerous, contagious or infectious disease, or with any diseases required by the state board of health to be reported, the physician must, within twenty-four hours, give notice of the disease to the local health officer or to the State Department of Health. This includes the reporting of all cases of tuberculosis.
In addition to reporting such diseases to local health officers, each provider must provide adequate, understandable instruction to the patient as to how to control the spread of the disease.
