“Rights of consumers”

Arizona requires physical therapists to disclose any financial interest they have in a recommended product to the patient. Physical therapists must make such disclosure in writing and document their compliance in the patient’s medical record.

Arizona grants a privilege to the physical therapist-patient relationship. Information related to this relationship is thus confidential and may only be released with the patient’s written consent. However, physical therapists may release information to the board of physical therapy and when otherwise required by law.

Patient records, information that may allow for the identification of a patient or their family, and information related to a board of physical therapy investigation is confidential and not accessible by the public.
