Reports of communicable diseases - R.I. Gen. Laws Ann. § 23-8-1

The director of health may establish regulations that require physicians and other persons to report known or suspected cases of communicable diseases. The regulations must address the timeframe for reporting, the form of reporting (e.g. writing, telephone), and whether the report must identify the person suspected of the illness by name.
