The Oregon Health Authority establishes the rules for when confidential data regarding cancer or benign tumor cases can be used to conduct research and studies for the public good.  Any research performed using confidential registry data must be approved by the Committee for the Protection of Human Research Subjects.  The Oregon Health Authority is also authorized to exchange information with cancer or benign tumor registries in other states, but must ensure that the other registries have comparable confidentiality protections.
