Newborn heart defect screening - pulse oximetry - rules - definition
Requires birthing facilities below 7,000 ft of elevation to us pulse oximetry to test infants born in the facility for congenital heart defects. Authorizes use of pulse oximetry above 7,000 ft of elevation if the newborn screening committee determines that use of this method is appropriate. Requires all newborns to undergo the screening prior to their release from the birthing facility and for the facility to report the results to the Department of Public Health and Environment.
