Analysis and Use of Data

The data that is collected pursuant to M.S.A. §62J.301 should be analyzed to improve the state’s health policy in terms of access, utilization, quality and cost.  The data should also be analyzed to promote efficiency within the system, monitor and track quality, cost and access to health care services, and evaluate the impact of various health policy decisions.  The data and research initiatives must work in the interest of the public, be statistically sound, and have minimal burdens on health plans, providers or patients.  The data and research programs must improve the efficiency of health care delivery and financing, assist the state in identifying rates of disease prevalence and other health trends, help develop statewide health policies, and allow for an evaluation of state health care financing and delivery systems.
