Mich. Comp. Laws Ann. § 333.17745 - Regulations and guidelines regarding the dispensation of drugs by prescribers

Any prescriber dispensing prescription drugs must have a drug control license for each location that they are storing and dispensing prescription drugs. The prescriber must include in a patient’s medical record a complete record of the drugs prescribed, including names, dosages, and quantities. A dispensing prescriber must also note whether the prescription drugs are dispensed to the patient, the prescription drugs are prescribed for the patient, or the prescription drugs are dispensed or prescribed to the patient pursuant to Section 17744a. All dispensing prescribers must retain this information for no less than 5 years.
When storing prescription drugs, the dispenser must ensure they are stored in a manner that maintains their stability, integrity, and effectiveness. The prescription drugs must be stored in a locked container and must bear appropriate labels conforming to the requirements of this Section. All prescription drug dispensaries are subject to inspection by the board.
