Quality assessment program; quality improvement program

 

All health maintenance organizations must establish a quality assessment program that includes systematic collection and reporting of data.  The health maintenance organization must make all findings available to the Commissioner of Insurance.  The health maintenance organization must also develop a quality improvement program to review, design, measure and improve health care outcomes.  These findings must also be made available to the Commissioner.  The health maintenance organization must additionally formulate a written quality improvement plan that explains how the health maintenance organization analyzes outcomes of care, identifies diagnoses and treatments for review each year, and conducts peer review, among others.
