Emergency requiring immediate action - R.I. Gen. Laws Ann. § 23-4.7-4

Physicians do not need to obtain informed consent for an abortion in an emergency situation that requires immediate action. Under such circumstances, a physician must document the existence of the emergency and the medical basis for performing the abortion in the patient’s medical record.
